Real Madrid midfielder’s controversial NBA visit to Paris
Real Madrid midfield prodigy Aurelien Tchouameni was spotted in Paris watching an NBA game while his team was playing a Copa del Rey game. The Frenchman has since apologized for his actions, but the issue had already caused quite a stir in the media.
Tchouameni was previously sidelined with an injury to his calf muscle. This resulted in him missing the Villareal game, which Madrid won 3-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.
The fans expected him to be there on the sidelines and support his fellow teammates. Meanwhile, the French international was busy attending a game between the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. This was the first time in three years that an NBA regular-season game was played in Europe.
This resulted in an outcry from the Real Madrid fans, who showed no remorse in displaying their displeasure on social media.
How did Tchouameni respond?
Meanwhile, the player realized his mistake and wasted no time in apologizing to the Los Blancos fans. The midfielder took to social media to admit his wrongdoing, writing: “I apologize to my club, the coaching staff, my teammates, and the Madrid fans for my presence at an event at a time when we were playing in the Copa.
He added, “I have been attentive at all times to what was happening in Villarreal, but I have not done the right thing. Very sorry.”
Tchoumeni arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2022 for a mind-boggling €100 million. He has since then earned a name for himself for his incredible showings, especially for France as they reached the finals of the World Cup.
Ever since arriving from Monaco, he has been a staple in Madrid’s midfield. If not for his injury, he would have perfectly filled in the shoes of the departed Casemiro. Playing behind the likes of Kroos and Modric in the center-defensive role, the Frenchman is set to have a great future at the club.
