What is the Salary of a Ranji Player every season?

The Ranji Trophy is the highest level of a domestic cricket tournament in India. Multiple teams from different states and union territories take part in these matches currently 38 teams take part in this Tournament. Every cricketer who dreams of becoming part of the international cricket team and being chosen by the national team selector has to play in the Ranji Trophy in his life. The impressive performance of players in this tournament can provide cricketers with a lot of opportunities.

Ranji’s trophy was named after the first Indian international cricketer ‘Ranjitsinhji’. The first match of the Ranji Trophy was played against the current Madras and Mysore on the Chepauk Ground in 1934. Cricketers were not paid a lot of salaries when Ranji’s trophies started but the victory of India in the 1983 World Cup change the stance of people. People started to take cricket professionally and the worth of the Ranji Trophy along with its fund see an increase.

Ranji Trophy Players’ Salary in 2020-21

Almost every team plays around 10 to 12 in the Ranji Trophy Tournament for the past few years. Till the 2020-21 season, Playing xi used to be paid INR 35000 per day while Non-Playing xi would get INR 17500 every day. The Same pay structure was used to pay the players for Vijay Hazare Trophy until this season.

BCCI has revised the pay of the Ranji Players from the season 2021-22. The ever Playing xi would be paid INR 60,000 per day if they had played around 41-60 matches, on the other hand, a reserve will get 30,000 for a day.

Players with experience of only 21-40 matches will be paid INR 50,000 a day for Playing xi while Non-playing xi would be only paid a total of 25,000 per day

However, players with little or almost no experience ranging from 0 to 20 matches will be paid only 40,000 for their every playing day while half of that is paid to the reserve player in this category.

Players Playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy are paid the same amount of salary even if Vijay Hazare is a one-day event while Ranji Trophy is a Four-day Tournament. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy players’ pay also got reformed as the BCCI now pays INR 17500 for every game.
