Various information on the upcoming PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022 has been released by Tencent recently. A $4 million prize money will be awarded in the Global Tournament’s two phases, League Stage and Grand Finals.
The PMGC 2022 League Stage will begin on November 22, 2022, and will last for 4 weeks. The PMGC 2022 Grand Finale will take place in Indonesia in January 2023. This year’s tournament will feature a total of 51 teams because Tencent raised the number of slots from the previous year’s PMGC (2021) which included 41 teams in total.

PMGC 2022: Format, Structure, Slots, and Teams Details
The PMGC 2022 will start with League stage matches (the first stage), where 48 teams from regional pro leagues will fight against one another to advance to the tournament’s Grand Finals. In the Grand Finals, which will take place in Indonesia in January 2023, the top 13 teams from the league stage standings will compete against three other teams who will be invited by the organizers.
The format for the weekly matches, the location of the map, and other specifics have not yet been made public by Tencent. Tencent has revealed that a total of four Chinese teams will receive spots in the PMGC 2022. The winner of the currently taking place PEL Summer 2022 will be invited directly to the PMGC 2022 Grand Finals, according to a previous announcement made by Tencent officials. While the teams in second and third place will advance directly to the league stage.
Additionally, Tencent will conclude a brand-new competition called PUBG Mobile Regional Clash, which will feature Chinese PEL and SEA teams and will grant the PMGC 2022 spot to the event’s champion. The new event is slated to start on September 22 and run through September 25, 2022.
After earning the most points during their PMPL Spring and Fall seasons, R8 ESports from the Saudi Arabian region recently become the first team to secure a seat in PMGC 2022. In many regions, the PMPL Fall season is currently in progress, and teams are contending to improve their standing in the regional PMGC rankings (PMPL Springs + Fall points).
There will also be spots available for the PMGC 2022 in the regional championships of the PMPL Fall Season, which will take place later this year.
Tencent hasn’t yet disclosed the slot distribution for each region, but China will get four slots this time around. The PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022 is scheduled to begin on August 11, making the PMGC 2022 the second significant tournament that Tencent will organize this year.
Everyone who plays PUBG Mobile is aware that Nova Esports from China has dominated the PMGC for the past two years. They have won the PMGC seasons of 2020 and 2021, and they intend to make it three in a row. The PEL Summer finals are still going on, and Nova Esports will compete there in an effort to win the competition and automatically qualify for the PMGC 2022 Grand Finals.
