Protestor Interrupted Wimbledon Twice In Just One Day
Protestors are back at Wimbledon.
Wimbledon 2023 has been interrupted twice in just one day by an oil protestor. It’s been a few hours since the Just Oil protestor disturbed Wimbledon.
The first incident happened at noon when this protestor group bashed in during the match between Grigor Dimitrov and Sho Shimabukuro. A lady ran out of now where spreading Orange confetti and zigsaw all over the court.
The second incident happened at Wimbledon after an hour, and this time a man protestor targeted Katie Boulter’s match against Daria Saville.
Followers of the Just Stop Oil group – which calls for the government to halt all new oil, gas, and coal projects – also disrupted the rugby union Premiership final and the World Snooker Championship.
After the first incident, a statement came from the All England Club (AELTC) said, “Following an incident on court 18, two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage and these individuals have now been removed from the grounds.”
With that statement, everyone took a deep breath of relief and thought there will be no longer disturbance. And then this man follower of Just Stop Oil ran onto the same court where British number one Boulter had just resumed her rain-interrupted first-round match against Australian Saville.
All England Club (AELTC) chief executive Sally Bolton said they have uplifted the security of Wimbledon.
