Price Increase for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Leaked on eShop
Price Increase for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Leaked on eShop
Excitement has been building for the release of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” the highly anticipated sequel to 2017’s “Breath of the Wild.” However, a recent leak on the Nintendo Switch eShop has fans questioning if they’ll have to pay a higher price for the game.
A Brief Glimpse at a Steeper Price:
Twitter user @Wario64 noticed that the previously blank price for “Tears of the Kingdom” had been updated to $69.99 on the eShop. This sudden change caused a stir among fans, as Nintendo quickly took down the listing. The official announcement of the game’s price is expected during the upcoming Nintendo Direct show on February 8, 2023.
Preorder Pricing is No Longer Available:
Although preorders for “Tears of the Kingdom” were listed at $59.99 on retailers such as Amazon and GameStop, these listings have now been taken down, leading many to believe that the leak may be accurate. If the price does indeed increase, it would be the first time Nintendo has sold a game for over $60 in the US since the days of GameCube.
Similar Pricing for Other Console Titles:
It’s not uncommon for games on the PS5 to sell for around $70, so it’s possible that Nintendo feels confident in charging the same for their top titles, especially given the anticipation for “Tears of the Kingdom.” However, fans are worried about the lack of discounts for Switch games after their release, unlike titles on other platforms that are often offered at discounted prices during special sales.
Nintendo has not yet made a statement on the price of “Tears of the Kingdom,” but all questions are expected to be answered during the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Whether the game’s price will increase or not, fans are eagerly waiting for the release of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” on May 21, 2023.
