Potter praises his side after beating Dortmund in the Champions League clash
Chelsea advances to the Quarter-Finals after winning against Dortmund
Graham Potter’s time at Chelsea has been nothing short of turbulent as the manager is yet to grab hold of the team’s fortunes. Despite a terrible run in the league, the Champions League win against Dortmund gave Potter an opportunity to fight for his role as Chelsea’s boss.
However, only time will tell whether Potter can lead the club to Champions League glory while having made one of the worst league seasons in the club’s history.
What did Potter have to say?
Speaking to the press on Monday, Graham Potter said: “Fans are always entitled to air their views and they’ve been suffering like the rest of us in terms of the results we’ve had. The reception and support we had were fantastic.
“They know the importance of the win tomorrow night. They want the team to go through, to progress, and they know how important they are. We wanted to make sure it’s tough for Borussia Dortmund away from home.
“We needed our supporters for that. Like everyone connected with Chelsea, it’s better when you win. Everyone is a little happier. We’ve had some games where we could have scored more than one and we needed that performance tomorrow.”
The owner, Todd Boehly will be relieved to some extent. Now, Potter’s future relies on whether he can have a great run in the Champions League. Will he be able to win it with Chelsea? Only time will tell.
While they have given up hopes of finishing in the top four. Only a clinical run in Europe can save the Englishman from getting sacked from his role.
