Player Death Caused by Teardrop Scarab in Elden Ring
Elden Ring is an action role-playing game from the creators of Dark Souls that has captured the attention of players around the world. With its vast open world and many different enemy types, it’s no surprise that players have encountered a variety of dangerous situations while playing. One player recently experienced a rather unlucky circumstance when a seemingly harmless Teardrop Scarab caused them to die.
What Are Teardrop Scarabs?
Teardrop Scarabs are one of many fauna found in the Lands Between in Elden Ring. They are small creatures that drop valuable items upon death, but they can be difficult to catch as they run away quickly. They come in two varieties: those that run in circles and those that fly in the air. The flying variety is the most dangerous as it can drop on unsuspecting players and cause them to become staggered.
An Unfortunate Death
The unfortunate Elden Ring player in question posted a video to r/EldenRing of their encounter with the Glintstone Dragon Smarag. They were riding on Torrent to catch up to the dragon after it flew away, only for one of the hovering Teardrop Scarabs to drop on them and stun them, leaving them unable to avoid Smarag’s fire breath attack and killing them instantly.
Beware of Harmless Creatures
This incident should serve as a reminder to players that they should always be cautious around all the enemies of Elden Ring. Even if a creature appears to be harmless, it could still be dangerous. In this case, the Teardrop Scarab was able to cause the player’s death, even though it was not a hostile enemy.
Elden Ring is full of secrets and surprises that keep players on their toes. While most of these are intentional, sometimes certain mechanics will allow for unexpected and unintentional surprises to occur. Players must always be aware of their surroundings and take caution when approaching any enemy in the game, even if it appears to be harmless.
