Pittsburgh Steelers’ Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Vegas Win

The Pittsburgh Steelers had an unexpected stop after their Sunday night win in Las Vegas. According to Burt Lauten, the team’s communication director, their charter plane was diverted to Kansas City early on Monday morning on their way back to Pittsburgh.

Lauten said, “Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh following our game in Las Vegas. Everyone on the plane is safe, and we are making necessary plans to arrive back in Pittsburgh later today.”

Several news outlets in Pittsburgh reported that the plane landed at KCI Airport around 4 AM local time because of an engine’s oil pressure failure. Fire trucks also checked the plane on the scene.

Steelers veteran Cam Heyward made a light-hearted joke about the landing on Twitter, saying, “Dang emergency landing in KC. I think it’s due to [Minkah Fitzpatrick’s] ‘roughing the passer call’ but seriously landing KC……….”

He added, “Yo [Taylor Swift] & [Travis Kelce] we might need a ride to Pittsburgh.”

Despite the unexpected landing, the Steelers won a close 23-18 victory over their rival, improving their season record to 2-1.

Thankfully, everyone on board was safe, and the team is arranging for another plane to take them back to Western Pennsylvania. The team’s top priority is the safety of its players and staff during this unexpected situation.
