Pete Sampras shares the devastating news of his wife Bridgette Wilson’s cancer diagnosis
With his most recent revelation that his wife Bridgette Wilson has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Pete Sampras has devastated the hearts of tennis lovers.
Sampras and Wilson have been together since their September 2000 wedding. At the behest of the power couple, the couple’s two kids, Christian Charles and Ryan Nikolaos, have grown up mostly hidden from the public view.
Sampras, who has remained mostly out of the public eye, revealed on Sunday that his wife’s battle with illness has made the last year incredibly difficult for him and his family.
Wilson, a former actress and model, has endured extensive surgery and chemotherapy and has been receiving targeted maintenance therapy treatment for her illness since last December.
“As most have come to know, I am a pretty quiet and private person. However, this past year has been an exceptionally challenging time for my family, and I have decided to share what’s been going on,” Sampras said.
“Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy and continues with targeted maintenance therapy,” he added.

The 14-time Grand Slam winner expressed his grief, as one might imagine, saying it was difficult to watch his wife go through such a difficult period. He was astounded to see his boys stand up for their families throughout this conflict, though.
“Watching someone you care about face such a hardship is difficult. But it’s been incredible to watch our guys stand up and support me, Bridgette, and each other so much. It has been wonderful to see Bridgette remain a fantastic wife and mother throughout it all, said Pete Sampras.
Pete Sampras said: “I have also learned that it is very hard to reach for support.”
Pete Sampras went on to say that he has discovered how challenging it can be to ask for help, particularly when the topic is “simply too hard” to broach. In closing, he urged his followers to remember Bridgette in their thoughts and prayers as she proceeded on her road to recovery.
Additionally, I’ve discovered how difficult it may be to ask for help when a subject is just too difficult to broach. I will respectfully ask for your kind thoughts and prayers for our family as Bridgette continues to heal as I wrap up this. I’m grateful,” Sampras wrote.
