Pete Alonso’s Big Move Ahead Of Free Agency Getting Reaction From MLB Fans
The Mets have had a really bad season in 2023. They recruited a lot of expensive player in the team hoping to do better than their playoff run in 2022, but that didn’t seem to work. Not only did they not make it to the playoffs, but some of the players they had recruited also left the team.
And now according to some new reports, it seems that Pete Alonso will become a free agent after the 2024 season. He made a big decision recently that made some fans think he might leave the team after next season.
Alonso hired Scott Boras’ company to represent him. Boras is known for his clients going into free agency instead of taking the first good offer from their current team.
Fans are reacting to Alonso’s decision on social media.
“Wild to me that so many baseball fans have bought into the idea that the agent who’s proven to be the most effective at getting players the money they deserve is some kind of supervillain,” one fan said.

“Mets gonna have to PAY THIS MAN to keep him in NY,” another fan said.
Mets gonna have to PAY THIS MAN to keep him in NY. Don’t know that is smart money with where they’re at, but hey, owner doesn’t shy away from spending money. Boras doesn’t mess around with his dudes. Believe it Alonso gonna get his money! https://t.co/nQjF9Ci39Y

Nothing wrong with loving your players and wanting them to stay but at the end of the day, it’s all about how much money they can make. Not about your feelings #MetsTwitter https://t.co/l6DvBRUsYi

Alonso could decide to return to the Mets next season and beyond, but the past precedent for Boras’ clients indicates that he will at least evaluate his options before making that decision.
