Pedri gives his take on the GOAT debate
Pedri chooses the GOAT between Ronaldo and Messi
Even though it’s no secret that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo share a mutual respect for each other. However, their respective fanbases have created the ‘GOAT’ debate.
The duo have been dominating world football over the last 15 years. They have battled against each other and made themselves better every year. Messi and Ronaldo share 12 Ballon d’Ors between them, 7 and 5 respectively.
In terms of accolades, they have won everything there is to win at club level including the prestigious Champions League. However, the GOAT debate was believed to be put to an end when Lionel Messi completed International football as well.
For years, Messi was criticized for not winning anything major with his national team while ronaldo won the 2016 Euros. However, Messi has put an end to the debate by winning not only the Copa America and Finalissima but also the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Argentinian scored seven goals and assisted three to lead his nation to glory.
Despite that, journalists are trying their best to keep this debate open. Recently, in an interview on YouTube, Barcelona prodigy Pedri was asked to give his opinion on who the GOAT is.
How did Pedri respond?
The Barcelona midfielder said, “By winning the World Cup, Messi has definitely buried the comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo. I’ve always been clear about this, since I saw Leo as a boy he was the best.”
“When I eventually played with him, he confirmed this to me. What we saw in the World Cup is what he is capable of doing and what he has been.”
