Patrick Reed’s Defamation Case Against Golf Channel Cancel By Federal Judge
Former PGA Tour golfer Patrick Reed filed a defamation case against Golf Channel and other media has been canceled by the federal court.
On Wednesday Patrick’s dream of seeking money from his defamation lawsuit was crushed by the Federal judge. The U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan dismissed Reed’s case against 18 media personalities.
Corrigan said in a 78-page document, “While Reed may be frustrated at the negative media coverage he receives (some of which seems over the top), under Florida law and the First Amendment, Reed fails to bring actionable defamation claims and his cases therefore must be dismissed.”

Patrick filed two defamation cases against some of the top media channels and reporters including Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee, Damon Hack, Eamon Lynch, and Shane Bacon.
Apparently, Judge canceled Reed’s request due to a lack of actionable defamation claims which proved against all 18 media personalities.
Patrick was expecting at least $1 billion combined from the Associated Press and the New York Post. Judge Corrigan also blocked Patrick from re-filling the defamation case.
Judge asserted that “Reed’s amended complaints in both lawsuits fall short of alleging sufficient facts showing that any Defendant had actual malice. This deficiency is fatal to each defamation claim.”
According to the 78-long ruling document, the judge said that most of the comments were about the LIV golf and not personally targeted Reed.
Patrick Reed joined LIV Golf in 2022.
