Patrick Mahomes ‘Trusts’ Kadarius Toney After Abysmal Performance Vs Lions Game

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t given up on Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney after his abysmal performance vs Lions opening game.

Kansas City Chiefs lost against Detriot Lions with a 20-21, in the season opener Thursday night.

During the third quarter, wide receiver Kadarius Toney made a horrible mistake which the Chiefs had to pay with an opening game loss. Toney dropped an easy first down and also dropped two other passes against the Lions.

Despite Kadarius, 27, abysmal performance vs Detroit Lines, Chiefs Star QB still trusts him.

After the Chiefs’ season-opening loss, Mahomes talked to the reporters about Kadarius’ struggles and, said he still has trust in Toney.

Via ESPN, Mahomes said,

“I have trust in [Toney]. He missed a lot of training camp, and obviously, he wanted to play and fought [during] rehab hard so he could play and stuff’s not always going to go your way.

“Obviously he would’ve wanted to catch a few of those in the game, but I’ve trusted he’s going to be that guy that I go to in those crucial moments, and he’s going to make the catch and win us some games like he did last year. So we’re going to continue to work him in, get him more and more reps, and I’m sure that those drops will kind of disappear.”

This really shows that Patrick has true leadership qualities and trusts his teammates despite their worst performance. He believes this is not the end of the road and the journey has just begun.

Earlier this week Chiefs star wide receiver Travis Kelce injured his knee during the practice. Mahomes and the Chiefs definitely missed Kelce’s presence in the opening game against the Lions.

In the next game, Chief will face off with the Jaguars. Will Travis Kelce be there to back his team?

We will see soon.
