Pakistan Triumphs Over Bangladesh: 7-Wicket Victory in ICC Cricket World Cup
Pakistan kept their chances alive for a spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup semifinals by beating Bangladesh with seven wickets. Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman’s strong partnership of 100 runs set the stage for their victory. Zaman, making a comeback, scored an impressive 81 runs, helping Pakistan reach the target of 205 runs in 32.3 overs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
During Bangladesh’s batting, Pakistan’s fast bowlers took eight wickets, limiting them to 204 runs in 45.1 overs. Bangladesh struggled after losing key early wickets, and only Mahmudullah managed to score a half-century.
This defeat marked Bangladesh’s sixth loss, dashing their hopes of reaching the semifinals. They have won only one match in the tournament.
On the other hand, Pakistan has won three out of seven matches, giving them a slim chance to qualify. With this victory, Pakistan moved to the fifth position on the points table, and Babar Azam’s team will continue to fight for a spot in the semifinals.
