Rocky Wirtz who took over the Chicago Blackhawks after his father died in 2007, was a fifth owner of the franchise. Unlike his father Bill, people loved Rocky Wirtz, and the whole stadium cheers his name after he became the owner. Rocky did nothing but improve and helped the Hawks to make it one of the most prominent NHL teams in history by winning three Stanley Cups and selling out the United Center year after year.
Prayers are pouring from everywhere for the Wirtz family and friends. Rocky Wirtz’s fans took over Twitter and shared their condolences.
One fan wrote, “RIP. Thanks for turning the Hawks around in my lifetime.”
