Overwatch: McCree’s New Name Revealed

Overwatch is a first-person shooting e-game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was initially released in May 2016 and has won multiple awards. Some of them are in the category of Best Original Game, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Gaming Moment (Play of the Game), PC Game of the Year, and Best Game Direction. In this game, one of the main characters is Iconic DPS Hero ‘McCree’. But, the developers have changed the name and in this article, I am going to provide all the information.

Introduction of McCree

According to the sources, McCree is one of the heroes in the Overwatch game. He is an outlaw gunslinger and former gang member who fights for the principle of righteousness. Using his Peacekeeper, McCree takes out targets with deadeye precision and dives out of danger with eagle-like speed.

Jesse McCree New Name

The new name of McCree got changed in October 2021 is ‘Cole Cassidy’. The reason for changing the name is due to some lawsuit (sexual charges on the main developer of Blizzard Entertainment) against the source person of McCree’s name. The name ‘Cole Cassidy’ is inspired by a number of popular figures including 1900s bank robber Butch Cassidy and Hopalong Cassidy.

Overwatch 2 Overview

Overwatch 2 is the sequel of 2016’s Overwatch game and is developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It was initially released in October 2022. The game intends a shared environment for player-versus-player modes while introducing persistent cooperative modes with the latest update. It is nominated for The Game Award for Best Multiplayer Game, and British Academy Games Award for Multiplayer. It is currently available on multiple gaming platforms including PSP, Xbox, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.
