Osasuna fans send death threats to Vinicius Jr
Once again, it was Vinicius Jr who was at the receiving end of death threats. This time it was from Osasuna fans as Real Madrid grabbed a win in Pamplona. The Brazilian winger was earlier interrupted when the teams were about to pay respect to the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey with a minute’s silence.
Vinicius has been a target of racism with Atletico Madrid fans hanging a dummy of his earlier this season. The club has now become increasingly cautious of Vinicius in terms of security. He has been portrayed as a villain despite him being the victim.
Los Blancos also went experienced a few similar issues last season.
What did Thibaut Courtois have to say?
While talking to DAZN the Belgian shot-stopper said, “There is a minute of silence and there is someone who says ‘son of…’ and it is unfortunate. They sang ‘Vinicius die’, it is unfortunate. There are beautiful and encouraging fans who don’t say that nonsense.”
“Vini played a good game, it’s a pity he didn’t score the goal. You have to look at the people, not Vinicius. You see children with their parents shouting and that’s unfortunate. You have to look at the others. Of course, Vini can get hot, but it’s more outside.”
Vinicius, however, did lose his temper at one stage as he was seen verbally insulting the match official. He was lucky enough to escape without being handed a card by Jose Luis Munuera Montero.
In the meanwhile, Barcelona media did not waste any time picking the incident. Especially, since Robert Lewandowski was banned for three games for ‘touching his nose’.
How did Vinicius Jr react?
At the end of the day, Vinicius had all the laughs. The winger assisted the first goal in Madrid’s 2-0 win over Osasuna.
Afterward, he tweeted the following with reference to Tuesday’s match against Liverpool in the UCL: “The insults continue…but the dance too…see you in Liverpool.”
