One NFL Stadium Might FIFA World Cup Games
Everyone is waiting for the 2026 men’s World Cup series and is so excited about it. The stadium and cities where matches will take place are already set. But unfortunately, one NFL stadium where a FIFA match was expected to happen is at risk of losing.
Los Angeles is one of 16 cities scheduled to host the 2026 men’s World Cup. However, SoFi Stadium could reportedly pull out of the tournament.
According to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, FIFA and and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) are having a dispute over revenue sharing, and due to that some problems have arisen. KSE has “threatened to walk away” from its hosting duties unless FIFA renegotiates a deal.
“The stadium owners had hoped that upfront payments would be recouped via commercial assets, which may refer to sponsorship, ticketing, hospitality, and matchday revenue, but those assets are yet to materialise in the way KSE had hoped,” Crafton wrote.

Tension between FIFA & the Kroenke’s over financial terms of deal for SoFi stadium in LA to host World Cup games in 2026. @TheAthleticFC told that KSE (owners of Arsenal, LA Rams) threatening to withdraw SoFi from hosting unless deal renegotiated https://t.co/8V82uzwvHs
In December, FIFA expected to make $11 billion in income in the four years leading up to the 2026 World Cup. This includes about $3.1 billion from ticket sales and hospitality.
According to Crafton, FIFA officials were surprised by how determined U.S. cities and stadium owners have been. In comparison, Qatar spent more when hosting the 2022 World Cup.
The FIFA World Cup Host Committee in Los Angeles has released a statement denying this report.
“We are proud to be the Los Angeles Host Committee for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Since being announced as a host city, we have been working closely with FIFA on many aspects of the event,” the statement said. “The information you have shared does not accurately reflect the content of those ongoing, collaborative conversations.”
The precise 2026 World Cup schedule remains undetermined, and Dallas’ AT&T Stadium and New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium have emerged over SoFi Stadium as leading candidates to host the final.
