Oklahoma Is Mourning For Former Athlete George Frazier's Death

On Tuesday, the University of Oklahoma gave tribute to the former athlete Sooners pitcher George Frazier who died at 68.

“The entire Oklahoma family is saddened by the passing of George Frazier, a beloved alumnus, and colleague,” OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione said. “George was a proud Sooner, a member of two College World Series teams and an accomplished major league pitcher and World Series champion, who later shared his witty, insightful and uniquely entertaining perspective of the game through his television commentary. We were fortunate to call him a friend and teammate, and to have him as a member of our baseball broadcasts for nine seasons. We will miss him dearly, and share our deepest condolences with his wife Kay, sons Matt, Brian and Parker, and daughter Georgia at this time.”

He was a former MLB player who played 10 major league seasons with five teams including the Yankees, Chicago Cubs with one winning a World Series title with the Minnesota Twins in 1987. Frazier was a Baseball analyst for Colorado Rockies (1998-2015) and Oklahoma baseball (2015-2023).

Our Thought and prayers are with George’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.
