During his remarkable career, Bergeron played a major role in leading the Boston Bruins to victory in the prestigious Stanley Cup tournament in 2011. He also helped the team reach the Stanley Cup Final in two other seasons, in 2013 and 2019.
What’s even more impressive is that Bergeron won the Selke Trophy, awarded to the league’s best defensive forward, not once or twice, but an incredible six times! Some people are even suggesting they should name the award after him – that’s how dominant he was on the defensive end.
When you think about it, 20 years is a long time, and Bergeron made the most of it. Throughout his career, he played a total of 1,294 games, scoring an impressive 427 goals and accumulating a staggering 1,040 points.
Now, with Bergeron retiring, the Boston Bruins are faced with the challenge of finding someone to fill his big shoes. As of now, Charlie Coyle looks to be the top choice as the team’s center for the upcoming season.
Let’s raise our sticks and give a big round of applause to Patrice Bergeron for an incredible career that will be remembered for generations of hockey fans to come!
