NFL Films star and Fox Sports host Charissa Thompson Creating a Strom in the Sports World With Erin Andrews
Charissa Thompson, who was just an HR assistant at Fox Sports is now trending as the host of Fox NFL Kickoff during a podcast and going viral in the sports world.
After Thompson graduated from the University of California-Santa Barbara, her heart was set on a sports career. However, breaking into the field was no easy feat. One day, she spotted a job opening at Fox Sports in Los Angeles, offering a position in their human resources department. Thompson eagerly seized this opportunity. Thompson’s curiosity led her to the Fox Sports production area. Here, she dived into mastering tasks like editing and organizing game clips and efficiently handling video tapes.
With a strong desire to work in sports full-time, Thompson made a bold move in 2007. She packed her bags and headed to Denver to take up a role as a production assistant at Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain.
In that place, her first chance to appear on-screen arrived when she was asked to step in as a host for the Colorado Rockies show on Saturday evenings.
Around a year later, a significant opportunity came knocking on her door with The Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox. She also occasionally stood in as a sideline reporter for college football and NFL games.
After working at various places like the Big Ten Network, Versus, Yahoo Sports, and ESPN, Thompson made her way back to Fox Sports in 2013. There, she quickly climbed the ladder and eventually became the main host of Fox NFL Kickoff.
“Every Sunday for me is Thanksgiving dinner,” she told Sports Illustrated.
“I get to be with my family and friends. It really is a completely different vibe.
“That’s why I feel so fortunate to start my career at Fox and I hope to end my career in Fox…
“Hopefully a long time from now – but I’ll let the powers that be handle that.”
