NFL analyst criticizes Bill Belichick’s Patriots for allowing Derek Carr and the Saints to score 34 points in Week 5
Bill Belichick is under fire these days, and Derek Carr’s performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars prompted NFL commentators to criticize the New England Patriots. Except for a solid fourth quarter, the New Orleans Saints offence has battled immensely this season and continued to do so against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Saints went into halftime down 17-6 with no touchdown passes. They continually struggled to move the ball forward, and their red zone performance was dismal. Derek Carr couldn’t get anything going and had to keep tossing it down the field, hoping his receivers would get some yardage. The rushing game could have been better, as well.
This is part of a trend this season in which the Saints have failed to score 25 points in any game. Expect one after they thrashed the New England Patriots 34-0. It was a monumental flop, and Bill Belichick bears part of the responsibility. Kevin Wildes, an NFL commentator, chimed in:
“This Saints team went into Gillette and won 34-0.”

Is it Bill Belichick or Mac Jones who is to blame?
Even though Bill Belichick must bear some of the blame for their humiliating defeat to the Saints, the primary issue for them is that they have yet to find an outstanding quarterback to replace Tom Brady. Just like Derek Carr is held accountable for New Orleans’ offensive difficulties, Mac Jones bears a large portion of the criticism for the team’s bad performance on the field.
The Saints game was his second consecutive game in which he was benched near the conclusion. He must improve, and Bill Belichick must find a solution. If Robert Saleh can make Zach Wilson appear half-decent in his recent games with the New York Jets, then the best coach of this century ought to do better.
