Welcome to the BullScore Wrestling News section. Today’s edition of WWE news comes up with a report that WWE officials have approved the idea of a new championship belt which is going to be of the unified championship title.
Title unification in WWE is a process where two championship titles are merged into one, usually as a way to create a more prestigious or dominant championship. WWE has had a few instances of title unifications in the past, with the most recent one being in 2013.
In December 2013, WWE unified the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship at the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view event. The unification match was between the WWE Champion Randy Orton and the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena. Orton won the match and became the first unified WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Prior to this, WWE had also unified the Intercontinental Championship and the European Championship in 2002 and the Hardcore Championship and the Intercontinental Championship in 2002 as well.
Title unification is not a very common practice in WWE, and it is usually only done when WWE management feels that it is necessary to create a stronger and more prestigious championship.
