Nebraska Volleyball’s Record-Breaking Night on ESPN
Nebraska women’s volleyball clashed with Stanford in a big game on Tuesday night. Not only did the Huskers win on the court, but they also set a new TV record.
ESPN reported that Nebraska’s 3-1 victory over Stanford brought in a whopping 466,000 viewers. This marks a historic moment as it’s the highest viewership ever for a regular volleyball match on ESPN.
This win was special in more ways than one. Nebraska hadn’t beaten Stanford since 2008, and it was their first top-five win during the regular season since 2017 when they defeated then-No. 2 Penn State.

Nebraska made headlines earlier this season when a jaw-dropping 92,000 fans filled Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium to watch them play. This match against Omaha set a world record for the most fans ever at a women’s sports event, with 92,003 fans attending. Tickets for this game even reached prices as high as $400 on the secondary market.
Nebraska volleyball is well-known for its incredible support over the past two decades. They’ve sold out attendance for over 300 home matches, making it the longest streak in all of women’s college sports.
Nebraska volleyball continues to make history, and their strong viewership on ESPN is just another example of their popularity.
