NBA viewers were unimpressed with Ben Simmons’ slam dunk against the Lakers, despite the Nets sensation scoring 10 points in the opening period
In the Brooklyn Nets’ preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night in Las Vegas, Ben Simmons had an excellent first half. Although Simmons finished with 10 points at the break, the crowd was not very enthused with him or his second-quarter fastbreak dunk.
Anthony Davis missed a corner 3-point attempt in the video below, and Mikal Bridges snatched the rebound. D’Angelo Russell came dangerously close to intercepting a fast outlet ball from Bridges to Simmons.
The three-time All-Star quickly got back up and executed a simple fastbreak dunk. After a difficult couple of seasons struggling with a back issue, it was wonderful to see Simmons seeming healthy. In the first 24 minutes of the game, he finished with 10 points, one rebound, three assists, and one steal.
Ben Simmons’ performance in the first half did not, however, win over NBA fans. Simmons had a field goal percentage of 4-for-6 and a free throw percentage of 2-for-4. Even one fan criticized his fastbreak dunk as being too simple:
“There is no way you just posted the most basic dunk I have ever seen.”
Given that Simmons has played so little over the last two years and that the regular season spans 82 games, one fan doesn’t get the hype:
“It’s preseason folks, let’s see what he can do in the regular 82 eighty-two game season, where he HAS 2 play 82 games, which is a lot of games for a pro.”
Another spectator made fun of Simmons’ pulling up on the rim after the dunk, saying:
“Bro almost got injured off that dunk.”

When will Ben Simmons make a comeback?
Since being moved to the Brooklyn Nets, Ben Simmons has only appeared in 42 games over the last two seasons and has been suffering from a back issue. On the Nets Media Day, Simmons informed reporters that he feels physically and psychologically fit and is optimistic about the upcoming season.
Simmons declared, “I feel fantastic. “Your mental health is just as crucial as your physical health. Therefore, all that needs to be done is what suits you the best. It involves a lot of meditation for me. Physically speaking, that is also a component.
Therefore, while you’re at your best physically, your mental health benefits as well. So, it’s wonderful to be at this location right now. And I am fortunate to be able to play on the court.
