NBA Franchise’s Controversial Political Donation Gets a Reaction from Rachel Nichols
A great Political Donation was recently made by one of the NBA teams which is not appropriate by Rachel Nichols, an American journalist who is working for ESPN.
It was the Orlando Magic who made the donation. Even though donating their money is not inappropriate but the way they did might cause some trouble in the franchise. Magic made the sizable donation to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis but not as an individual executive but on behalf of the franchise. A franchise contains many peoples not just one. And different people might support different political powers. So donating on behalf of the franchise without everyone’s approval might not be appropriate.
Nichols said when she appeared on CNN that this money is earned by the players of the team who may oppose DeSantis’ politics so donating the money on behalf of the franchise might affect their feelings and she didn’t feel it’s appropriate for the Magic to make a donation.
“The money the Orlando Magic donated to Ron DeSantis doesn’t come from a magic tree elf. It comes from the work of players on the court. And that their work has been turned into a contribution to someone who has come out with statements they think directly oppose who they are as people, that’s very difficult to stomach.”
DeSantis is not related to NBA and he hasn’t appeared that much in any game, but for Magic, he’s treated like royalty and he even has some of his top brass in the franchise.

As of writing, Ron DeSantis faces an uphill battle to secure the Republican nomination for President, let alone the presidency itself.
According to a report from FiveThirtyEight, former President Donald Trump is still way up ahead of DeSantis when it comes to aggregate primary polling and the gap between them appears to have widened in recent months.
