Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Multiplayer May Be Released on PS4
Naughty Dog has posted a job listing for an associate multiplayer quality assurance tester for its upcoming game, The Last of Us Multiplayer. The listing hints that the game will be released on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, making it a cross-gen title like its predecessor, The Last of Us 2. However, there has been no confirmation from the studio on this yet.
Possibility of a PS4 release
Although there is a chance that the game will be released as a PS5 exclusive, bringing the game to PS4 would make sense given the console’s large player base. However, it could result in a lower-quality version for PS5. Nevertheless, given that the multiplayer game has been in development for at least two years, it would not be surprising if it comes to the PS4 at launch.
Release date and details
The Last of Us Multiplayer does not have a firm release date yet. However, Naughty Dog has revealed that the game is on its way. In January 2023, the studio teased fans with a piece of artwork, claiming that more information on the title will be shared later this year. The game is expected to offer a fresh and new experience for players while remaining rooted in Naughty Dog’s signature storytelling, character development, and gameplay.
Other PlayStation studio releases for old-gen hardware
Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok was launched for both PS5 and PS4 back in November 2022. PlayStation’s internal studios have had a good track record of bringing their games to older hardware, which suggests that The Last of Us Multiplayer may also be released on PS4.
While Naughty Dog’s job listing suggests that The Last of Us Multiplayer will be a cross-gen title, there has been no confirmation from the studio yet.
