Mystics sign Jazmine Jones
Mystics sign Jazmine Jones
Although most WNBA free agents cannot make their new deals official on February 1, there are some exceptions who can get their deals over the line before the moratorium ends. It’s only the reserved free agents who can sign with teams during the period.
Reserved free agents are those who have less than three years of time in the league. These are similar to restricted free agents as they are free to take or refuse their offers. However, they can only negotiate with their current employers. One such free agent is Jazmine Jones from Washington Mystics. As per reports from Rachel Galligan, she has accepted her qualifying offer.
Jones’ WNBA experience
Last campaign, Jazmine Jones appeared for just a single game for the Mystics. She was arguably not the starter and was put in a backup rotational role. Jones kicked off the 2022 season playing just seven games for the Suns where she averages nearly a point per game. Prior to joining the Connecticut Suns, she was with the New York Liberty who let her go.
Jones’s Rookie season in 2020, proved to be her best season in WNBA so far. It was Liberty who picked her as the 12th overall draft pick. At Liberty, she used to get regular game time. During the season, she averaged 10.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. All these incredible numbers while shooting 33.3 percent from three-point range.
