MLS might be the next destination for Robert Lewandowski
Polish Striker Lewandowski is enjoying his time in Barcelona. The striker has not lost touch since arriving from Bayern. However, the Polish man is 34 years old and is thinking about his future. MLS could be the next destination for Robert once his deal expires at Barca. His Poland teammate Karol Swiderski plays for Charlotte FC and has revealed that Lewandowski has been asking about life in the US.
The Polish No.9 joined Blaugrana back in the summer and his current deal will run until 2026. Although the Catalans hold an option of another year, Lewandowski might not want to continue that long. Anyhow, by the time MLS welcomes Lewandowski, he will be 37. This means that he will most probably finish his career in the US.
The US could be Lewandowski’s next destination
In an interview with MLSsoccer.com, Swiderski said, “Yes, he’s asked me sometimes. I’m waiting for this moment, so I hope he will come here because he’s really a legend, [not only] in Poland but even I think in Europe. He’s scored many, many goals, so it would be nice to meet him in MLS,” he added.
What did Lewandowski say?
Before leaving Bayern for Barcelona, Lewandowski was asked by CBS sports about a venture in the MLS, to which he responded by saying, “Playing in the USA? I don’t know because I don’t know what it means for me and when.”
He added: “For sure, I know a lot about the MLS because a few Polish players and also German players were playing there, and they talk to me about the life but also about MLS and they make every year a step up.”
