Miles Bridges has an outstanding warrant for violating a domestic violence protection order, according to police
According to the Charlotte Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets is wanted for a violation of a domestic violence protective order, as well as an unserved criminal summons for a domestic protective order violation, misdemeanour child abuse, and injury to personal property.
According to the sheriff’s office, the warrant was issued in January but has yet to be served. On Wednesday, a criminal summons was issued.
According to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, the matching police report stated that the mother of Bridges’ two children had her windshield damaged at her apartment and that his appearance violated her protection order. According to the station, the alleged incident occurred at her home.
The Hornets issued a statement Wednesday night saying they are aware of the accusations and are seeking further information.
Messages left for Bridges’ attorney were responded to after a period of time.
Bridges, 25, is on probation for three years after pleading no contest in November to one felony count of injuring a child’s parent in return for no jail time.
Bridges was facing three felony charges: the one he pled no guilty to, as well as two others for child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause serious bodily harm or death. The charges arise from allegations that he abused his ex-girlfriend in front of their two children in June 2022, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Bridges, who was a restricted free agent at the time of the event and was expected to sign a contract worth more than $100 million, missed the whole 2022-23 NBA season.
Bridges was banned for 30 games this season by the NBA, but 20 of those games were dismissed owing to time previously lost because he missed 82 games last year. Bridges will be out for the first ten games of the season.
He is not permitted to play in preseason games.
Bridges apologized in July for causing “pain and embarrassment” as a result of the domestic abuse inquiry. Bridges agreed to a one-year, $7.9 million contract extension with the Hornets, promising to restore ties with teammates and become more involved in the Charlotte community.
