Mike Krzyzewski Talks About What His Retirement Life

Mike Krzyzewski, also known as Coach K, is a legendary figure in college basketball. He coached the Duke Blue Devils for forty years, transforming them into a powerhouse in the Basketball world. During his time with them, he led the team to five national championships and set a record for the most wins in history, with 1202 victories.

Then he retired in 2021 after being named ACC Coach of the Year five times. Recently, he opened up about his life after retiring from basketball, giving insight into his post-coaching journey.

“It’s been great. I have a lifetime contract with Duke. Not to coach but to be the ambassador. I’ve retired from coaching and recruiting. Still have my office, my office staff. And doing a bunch of things to help Duke, obviously, behind the scenes, to support our program.

“Jon [Scheyer] and I have a very close relationship and talk frequently. That’s good for me and it’s good for him and it’s good for the program.

Jon Scheyer, a longtime assistant under Krzyzewski, replaced him as next head coach.
