For more than 13 years Michael Jorden, owner of the Charlotte Hornets is selling the franchise. This would be beneficial for North Carolina. why?

According to Brendan Marks, Michael Jordan will no longer tighten to the rules of limiting contracts between the NBA and the NCAA. After selling the Hornet he will be free to offer more of his services to the Tar Heels program.

Jordan played his freshman year for the Tar Heels in 1981-1984 and thus he has this special bond with the Carolina. A few years back when he attended the Marqee games for the University of North Carolina. Because of NCAA rules Jordan was stopped from having full contact with the Carolina team.

He bought Hornet in 2010 and since there will be no major championship named before the team. He’s selling the franchise to the group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall for $3 Billion approx will be the new owner of The Charlotte.

North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham said he called Jorden for his guidance and advice for the betterment of the UNC Team after the head coach Roy Williams’s retirement.

So selling the Hornet could be good news for the North Carolina Basketball program. Jordan Brand also sponsors the Carolina Basketball and Football program.

It will be interesting to see how Michael Jordan uses this opportunity. And become more involved with North Carolina alma mater when the two share this trustworthy and beautiful bond.
