Matias Messi is the brother of the Argentina World Cup winner, Lionel Messi. Recently, he pointed a finger at FC Barcelona for not giving enough respect and recognition for how great Lionel Messi was for the club.
The Argentinian has had a decorated career at Barcelona which includes winning 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with the Blaugrana. Apart from that, Messi has numerous individual accolades to his name which include seven Ballon d’Or(s) and five golden boots, both of which are records.

During a live stream on Twitch, the brother said, “I don’t know about you, but Barcelona became known thanks to Messi. Nobody knew about them before. Whoever’s had the chance to go to Barcelona and see the museum, you can see that the museum is Messi.”

Barcelona as a club has won a total of 26 La Liga titles over the course of its history, the majority of which came before Messi. It is no secret that legends such as Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola, Ronald Koeman, and Patrick Kluivert to name a few. All these Icons have graced the pitch at Camp Nou and contributed to becoming the globally recognized club it is today.
Thus, it is clear that Messi came as a blessing for FC Barcelona. However, to say that FC Barcelona’s history of its own will be a remark that will go down as an insult.
