Messi to come ‘home’ when PSG contract expires

Fans have been wishing for Messi’s return to FC Barcelona ever since he moved to Paris. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner left Barca as a free agent given the club’s financial incapabilities to keep him. Despite his good form for the Parisians, the Argentinian has always kept the door open for a return.

WHAT THEY SAID:

As of today, PSG is still expected to extend Messi’s stay despite speculation of an exit to either Barcelona or the MLS. In a statement given to Diario Ole, Messi said “When I finish my career, I will return to live in Barcelona, it’s my home.”

Joan Laporta promised to renew Messi back when he was elected as president. Things didn’t go as planned for him but he is still adamant to bring the Argentinian to Barcelona where he grew up and spent his entire career. Barcelona as a club is still open to welcoming the former club captain with Xavi, the manager, and former teammate as well excited to coach Messi.

WHAT NEXT?

Messi himself, it seems has ruled out the possibility of joining Barca as a player.

Thus, as per TransferMarkt, his record at Blaugrana stands at 672 goals in 778 games. He has also won numerous titles including 10 La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.
