Megan Rapinoe Talks About Positive Consequences Of Retirement Announcement
U. S. Women’s National Soccer Team player Megan Rapinoe has already announced her retirement after the Women’s World Cup.
Last week, Rapinoe announced retirement at the end of this year. So the 2023 Women’s World Cup will be the last major event of her career. while talking to the ESPN reporter, she talks about all the positive consequences of the retirement announcement. She believes it made her more focused for the upcoming World Cup, and very outspoken about other issues. Recently Megan take out on comedian Dave Chappelle and blames him for LGBTQ violent attacks.
In an interview with ESPN, Rapinoe said,
“Obviously I’m 38 years old, I’m not going to be playing forever and it just always feels weird for me to have something settled and feel at peace and to not answer a question honestly. I kind of wanted to have that for myself.”
She further adds, “I think it allows me to focus a lot more, allows the team to focus a lot more. We don’t have to get questions every time, every single game. It’s just kind of out there and I can just really enjoy it and focus on trying to win the tournament.”

This year Women’s FIFA world cup is settled in New Zealand. The USWNT’s first match with Vietnam will be on July 22 at Eden Park in Auckland.
After that, the USWNT take on the Netherlands and Portugal to round out the group stage.
