Megan Rapinoe Clears Out The Air Amid Missing Penalty Kick Controversy

Finally, USWNT star Megan Rapinoe cleared out the air amid the missing penalty kick controversy.

Megan Rapinoe faced a lot of criticism for her controversial laugh after she missed the penalty kick against Sweden.

During the FIFA Women’s World Cup, in the match USWNT vs Sweden, Megan missed an important penalty kick which led Sweden to victory with a 5-4 penalty. It was not the missing penalty but Megan’s aftermath laughter put her into some serious trouble.

Later Megan cleared out the air and explained why she smiled after missing the penalty.

Via Fox Sports, Megan Rapinoe said, “That’s like a sick joke. That’s why I had that smile on my face. I’m like, ‘You’ve got be f—ing kidding me.’ I’m going to miss a penalty? I mean, honestly, I can’t remember the last time I missed.”

Megan Rapinoe announced her retirement before the World Cup. This will be her last World Cup and it is sad things are not going as Megan planned for her career’s last major tournament.

That laugh was just her reaction to missing out on the opportunity, kind of laughing at herself.
