Mark Cuban’s Blunt Take On Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic’s Duo
Mark Cuban, an American businessman and the owner of the Dallas Mavericks team has just taken a blunt take on the Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic’s Duo who are playing together.
According to him, Irving and Doncic both are awesome players and when they are playing together they actually have a ton of potential.
For Cuban, he noticed that Doncic and Irving were teammates for fewer than 1,000 plays. But even in that short time playing together, they performed really well and had a score of field goal rate of 60 percent.
“Lot of people don’t think it, you know,” he said.
“So when you look at last year, we had issues that had nothing to do with Kyrie or Luka playing together.”
Cuban didn’t stop there, though.
“And we just didn’t have a team that was committed to the roles, right?”
Mavericks had to deal with a lot of issues during the 2022 season and their main problem was that their defence was lacking in comparision to other teams. That, along with their coach Jason Kidd’s odd issues with one of the players, made the team miss the playoffs completely.
Even Irving himself admitted that he and Doncic didn’t communicate well at times last season. We don’t know yet if that will change in 2023-24.
Looking at the bigger picture, the Mavs let down a lot of fans last season. They had lots of energy after making it to the Western Conference Finals before that.
Instead of doing even better, they actually got worse. But the good news is that Doncic is now at his skinniest. And Irving, at least on the outside, seems to be on board with Dallas’ plans for the future. Now it’s just about everyone working together.
Can Irving, Doncic, and Cuban come together for the Mavericks in the next season? Let’s wait and see.
