Mariah Simone brags about her fiancé Kevon Looney’s incredible ‘Iron Man’ NBA record

On Sunday night, Kevon Looney reached a career milestone while playing for the Golden State Warriors in a road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his partner, Mariah Simone, participated in the celebration.

Simone shared the Warriors’ Instagram post proclaiming Looney’s achievement in her own Instagram story.

Looney’s 200th consecutive game was against the Cavaliers, and in an era where load management has become a significant concern, this “Iron Man” record is amazing in and of itself.

What’s more amazing is that Looney proceeded to demonstrate that he could handle the NBA grind despite beginning his pro career with a bad hip that required him to miss a number of games, as well as needing to miss numerous matches during the 2019-2020 season due to hamstring neuropathy.

What Kevon Looney had to go through before becoming an ‘Iron Man.’
Kevon Looney’s injury history extends back to his one-and-done NCAA season with UCLA. Concerns were raised about Looney’s hip concerns soon before the 2015 NBA Draft, and he was even speculated to have undergone surgery before his last year of college.

The Warriors picked him 30th overall to keep him in California, but he suffered right hip surgery in August of that year. During his first season, Kevon Looney alternated between the Golden State Warriors and their NBA G-League clubs, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

However, his right hip became inflamed, and after another hip surgery, he missed the rest of the season and had to watch Golden State blow a 3-1 finals lead after a 73-9 regular season and lose the title.

After two hip operations, Looney felt he was finally on the mend when he was diagnosed with neuropathy as a result of hamstring troubles in 2019. He had been playing with it during the 2016-2017 season, it was subsequently found.

Looney appeared in only 20 games throughout the 2019-2020 bubble season, and he underwent surgery on a core muscle during the COVID-19 lockout.

Following early injury setbacks, Looney played the final 29 games of the 2020-2021 season, ultimately getting to play two complete regular seasons after that and achieving the “Iron Man” feat of 200 consecutive games played in the seventh game of the current season.

Looney had 11 rebounds and five assists in 15 minutes of action against the Cavaliers in the Warriors’ 115-104 road loss.
