Map Rotation Status in Apex Legend Season 16
Although Apex Legends only offers five battle royale maps, they are sizable enough to provide entertainment for many matches. The game’s developer, Respawn Entertainment, keeps gameplay engaging by regularly adding, tweaking, and modifying maps. This ensures that even when players replay the same maps repeatedly, they always feel new and distinct. One approach to maintaining map freshness is by implementing a seasonal rotation system.
Players cannot choose which map they want to play. Instead, the rotation changes periodically, typically seasonally. Rather than making all five maps accessible at once, the development team selects a few to include in the rotation, usually favoring newer or updated maps.
List of All Map Rotations in Apex Legends Season 16
The core idea behind Season 16 is to offer a bit of a respite from the typical major seasonal updates in Apex Legends, such as introducing a new legend or making significant changes to the map. Instead, this season offers a range of new features, including the class perk system, Team Deathmatch, and the Nemesis burst assault rifle. While there aren’t many new map updates, players can still enjoy playing on Broken Moon, World’s Edge, and Storm Point during the first split of Season 16.
The maps in Apex Legends are usually available for approximately 30 minutes to an hour and a half. If you’re not interested in playing on the current map, you can simply wait until the timer runs out, and the game will switch to the next map in the rotation. The game ensures that no map is played twice in a row, so you won’t have to worry about playing on the same map repeatedly. If you happen to be in a match when the timer runs out, you won’t be forced to exit the game. Instead, you’ll be allowed to finish the match, and the next round will take place on the new map.
Ranked Map Rotations
In Season 16, Respawn Entertainment made changes to the ranked map system in Apex Legends. In the previous system, players would play on a single map for an entire ranked split, which lasted for over a month. However, in this new system, Respawn rotates ranked maps, and players can now play on the same maps available in pubs.
The primary difference between the two modes is that the ranked rotation is much longer than that of pubs. Ranked maps remain in rotation for 24 hours before switching to the next one. So if you enjoy playing on a particular ranked map, such as Storm Point, you can continue to do so throughout the day. Conversely, if you don’t like that map, you can wait until the next day when a different map, such as World’s Edge or Broken Moon, becomes the ranked map.
