In-form Man United conceded seven goals against Liverpool

Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp called it a “perfect” day as his men put seven past Manchester United.

The German manager rejoiced as he said that the scoreline was “one for the history books but not for the moment”.

He congratulated his team for their incredible performance and complimented Mohamed Salah for becoming the record goal scorer for Liverpool in the Premier League. It was his 129th goal that took him ahead of Robbie Fowler.

It was Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez with braces each while Roberto Firmino came in late and scored the 7th goal for Liverpool.  United were down by just one goal by half-time, but they couldn’t keep hold of the game as they collapsed in the second half.

What did Jurgen Klopp say?

In conversation with Sky Sports, “We played top football against the team in form. In the second half, the start was pretty good, the finish was pretty good, and everything was pretty good. That’s football and it can happen.

Mohamed Salah celebrates against United

“United played a super season and we are not really happy with our season so far, but it doesn’t mean anything for the game. Today we were the clear better side for this moment, and we got a very important three points for us.”

This win puts Liverpool fifth on the points chart and in contention for the European places being just three points behind Spurs.

In the last five games, Liverpool has achieved 13 out of possible 15 points. He added: “There are a lot of points to go for and that’s what we want.

“For tonight it was perfect. It was the push we wanted; it pushes us in the right direction. We are getting close and everyone has to feel us, has to know we are still around. It was not the case for a while, but tonight was a proper show of what we can be and what we have to be from now on.”

Praising Mohamed Salah, he said, “He’s a very special player. We appreciate him now, but in the future, looking back, people will realize, ‘Wow, we witnessed something really special’.”

The German boss also confirmed the news of Firmino leaving United by the end of the season. He said: “It’s actually a normal situation. It was not an easy decision for him. Everybody can imagine. The reception he got when he came on was absolutely outstanding. That was the goal the stadium wanted pretty much the most.”
