Madrid Keeping Tabs On €40m Bundesliga Left-Back

It is believed that Carlo Ancelotti has completely lost faith in left-back Ferland Mendy. The Frenchman has made 23 appearances for Los Blancos this season and failed to deliver.

Unfortunately, the coach has no other option than to play him because the club simply has no ready replacements.

Potential Replacements For Mendy

As per El Nacional, Los Blancos are ready to spend €40 million on Fran Garcia to slot in as the new starting left-back.

Bayern Munich’s Alphonse Davies can be the most prolific left-back signing for Real Madrid. However, if a deal for the Champions League winner does not materialize, Madrid will turn their attention to Garcia.

Apart from that, Bundesliga star David Raum is another alternative. The RB Leipzig full-back joined Leipzig last summer.  In the 22 appearances he made this season, Raum has provided an assist and countless defensive showings. The German is tied up under a contract that runs until 2027. However, €40 million will be enough to reach an agreement with the Red Bull club.

Mendy, on the other hand, joined Madrid in 2019 as a replacement for Marcelo. Since then, he has been the starting fullback making 126 appearances and providing five goals and ten assists.

Mendy has requested a raise on a contract that runs until 2025. However, considering poor performances this season, President Florentino Perez will not entertain such requests.
