Liverpool needs defensive bolstering
Liverpool target Gvardiol and Kim Min-Jae in the summer
Liverpool is in dire need of upgrading their backline or at least bolstering it. The Merseyside outfit has landed upon two young center-backs to sign coming summer.
Who is Liverpool targeting?
According it Ben Jacobs of CBS Sport, the first name on the list is of Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig who had an amazing world Cup with Croatia along with a great season in the Bundesliga.
The Croatian is followed by the South Korean, Kim Min-Jae of Napoli who has been a revelation in the Serie A. The center back had big shoes to fill in after the departure of Koulibaly, however, Min-Jae has solidified the backline this season helping Napoli reach the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, with 13 clean sheets to his name, the 26-year-old has inspired Napoli to put a title challenge in over 30 years.
High demand means competition
Unfortunately for Liverpool, they are not the only team interested in the South Korean. Coming summer, Man United and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to enter the bidding war.
Liverpool have been scouting and analysing both the defenders from a long time and intend to go all out in the summer.
To help fund the transfers, the Reds are looking to sell the likes of Joel Matip and Nat Phillips this coming summer.
