Real Madrid Eliminate Liverpool from the Champions League
Once again, Real Madrid is the reason for Liverpool’s sorrow. The reigning champions won the tie 6-2 on aggregate. It was Benzema, who scored the only goal last night.
Liverpool has now been eliminated by Madrid on 3 straight occasions including 2021-22 final. Counting in 2018 Final at Cardiff, Liverpool saw defeat at the hands of Madrid four times in the last six seasons.
How did Jurgen Klopp react?
While talking to BT Sport after the 1-0 loss at the Bernabeu, Jurgen Klopp said, “We couldn’t put a special performance on the pitch tonight.”
“Ali had to make two sensational saves. The right team went through, that’s what we have to admit. “The game tonight, Madrid was the better team and won the game. In 3 halves of the fixture, they were the better team.”
Elimination from Europe means that the Reds only have the Premier League to focus on. There is no way that they can win the title, but they do need to fight for a top-four finish.
