Lionel Messi reaches 700 goal milestone
Messi join 700 goal club alongside Ronaldo
It was just twenty-four minutes into the game against Marseille that Messi set up Kylian Mbappe for the opening goal of the game. Shortly after, it was Messi at the receiving end and Mbappe assisted the Argentine, who scored a goal of his own and managed to reach a very special milestone.
THE BIGGER PICTURE:
The World Cup winner had 672 goals while playing for his former club FC Barcelona. Since leaving Spain, Messi has found the back of the net 28 times to take his tally up to 700 goals. This means Messi joins Cristiano Ronaldo to be the only two men with such a milestone. The Portuguese reached the milestone earlier this season while playing for Manchester United.
