Legendary NASCAR Driver Dale Jarrett’s Thoughts On Bubba Wallace ‘Choked’
Legendary Nascar Driver Dale Jarett shared his thoughts on Bubba Wallace, whether he choked during the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race on Sunday.
Bubba Wallace led the 100 laps of NASCAR’s Cup Series Playoff race and still, he messed up and cost his team a win. After the race, Wallace confronted that he “choked” during the restart.
Dale Jarrett a former NASCAR driver has a doubt that Wallace actually hesitated and not choked. According to Jarett, Wallace’s slight hesitation was the reason he finished the race in third place.
Jarrett said,
“I think they both [Wallace, William Byron] hesitated just for a split second there, but as Bubba hesitated, Byron saw that hesitation.”
On the latest @NASCARonNBC Podcast, @DaleJarrett analyzed how @BubbaWallace lost the lead on the last restart at Texas and why DJ says Bubba should hold his head high and chalk it up to experience.

He continued,
“I don’t think Bubba choked in this, that’s a tough, tough spot to get yourself in. Bubba didn’t do anything wrong to get in that spot, and what he did, turned out to be a wrong thing, but it wasn’t the wrong thinking that he was doing. I think if he had gone on and committed completely to taking his car to the very bottom of the race track, that probably Byron is going to back out and not create a contact there.”
Jarrett advised Bubba Wallace that it’s a learning experience and he should learn it from this race. Jarrett assured wasn’t blaming at all but trying to say Wallace should embrace the experience, learn it, and move on toward the next race.
“He just opened the door. I don’t blame him for that. That’s not choking, that’s learning. He’s still having to learn how to race in a different set of circumstances.”
Dale Jarrett is best known for his winning the Daytona 500 three times and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series championship in 1999.
Jarrett always tries to give some good advice to new racers so they can make the experience of the race even better for both themselves and their fans out there.
