Legendary College Football Coach Roy Kidd Passes Away at Age 91
This week, the football world is remembering a true legend, Coach Roy Kidd, who passed away at the age of 91.
Coach Kidd, who led Eastern Kentucky’s football team from 1964 to 2002, achieved some incredible milestones during his career. He brought home national championships in 1979 and 1982 and was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year an astounding ten times.
Just last week, Eastern Kentucky shared the news that Coach Kidd had been moved to hospice care, a sign of his declining health.
On Tuesday morning, Eastern Kentucky University released a heartfelt statement about Coach Kidd’s passing. They said, “EKU Football mourns the loss of iconic head coach Roy Kidd. It would be impossible to express everything Coach Kidd has meant to Eastern Kentucky University. He embodied the passion, purpose, and pride that our program strives for every day. Thank you, Coach Kidd!”

The university also asked for support and well-wishes for Coach Kidd’s wife and children during this challenging time. They said, “EKU is forever grateful for his service to our students. As we mourn, please join us in sending well wishes to his wife and children.”
Coach Kidd leaves behind an impressive coaching record with 314 wins. His impact on college football will always be remembered.
