The Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has finally surpassed Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s scoring record. The 38-year-old scored his 36th point in the third quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.
The game against Oklahoma gave him a career-high score of 38,388 points, and he broke Kareem’s all-time scoring record. The team was filled with excitement, and there was a celebration amidst the game (the game was paused). Even Kareem Abdul Jabbar was present to see the legend break his all-time scoring record.
LeBron as the best scorer
James surpassing Kareem’s scoring record is evidence of his consistency and durability. Ever since he joined the Lakers, he has maintained his score. Even as a rookie, LeBron averaged 20.9 points per game, and in 2019, he averaged 25ppg in 19 seasons. Around one year ago, he surpassed Kareem in his career points. Undoubtedly, LeBron is viewed as the game’s greatest scorer and the creator of history.
LeBron told ESPN, “I see it and I smirk.”
“When they talk about the best scorers who ever played the game, my name never comes up.”
“They have no choice now. They have no choice.”
All of James’ peers cheered him and gave him props. Steph Curry gave him a legendary shoutout. His former teammates like Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr., and Dwight Howard congratulated him on his big day.
