LeBron James puts Austin Reaves in his place after a ‘too small’ taunt on Patrick Beverley
LeBron James Returns from Injury, Lakers Get Revenge Against Bulls with Help from Austin Reaves
LeBron James made his long-awaited return to the court from a foot injury on Sunday, but it was a rough outing for the Lakers as they suffered a humiliating loss to the Bulls. Adding insult to injury, former Laker’s nemesis Patrick Beverley taunted James with a “too small” gesture after scoring a floater over him.
But the Lakers had a chance at redemption just a few days later with another matchup against Chicago. This time, they emerged victorious with a 121-110 win, thanks in part to rookie Austin Reaves who hit Beverley with the same taunt after scoring a similar floater.
After the game, James had a humorous response to Reaves’ payback, referencing a viral post by the rookie poking fun at the Lakers star.
“AR always got my back. Even though he loved Kobe (Bryant) back in the day more than me … I forgive him,” James said as he burst out laughing.
With the win, the Lakers improved their record to .500 and remain in contention for a top-six seed in the Western Conference playoff race. The victory also showed that the Lakers are a resilient team that won’t back down from a challenge, even against familiar foes like Beverley.
