LeBron James is setting his eyes on Kyrie Irving, Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers made it to the finals of the Western Conference Finals but despite their best efforts, they still couldn’t manage to win against the Denver Nuggets. This led to everyone thinking, how are the team gonna perform in the next season?
Lakers performance in the last match also affect the LeBron James and got a reaction from him. For the next season, James want the team to upgrade their point guard.
Yes, you heard it right. James no longer wants to be on the position he used to be and he also seems to think that D’Angelo Russell will also won’t be able to match his expectations.
The upgrade James is talking about is to recruit new players who can handle the pressure. Out of all the options, the top two players James had in his mind are Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.
In a recent conversation with Heavy Sports this week, one of the Western Conference GM’s suggested that L.A.’s interest in adding Irving was lukewarm at best at the moment.
“There’s not an overwhelming sentiment from them like, ‘We gotta go get Kyrie.’ It’s just LeBron,” he said.
Lakers’ wants Irving, this thought is not with any backup. If you remember, then at the NBA Trade Deadline, Lakers were clearly seen trying to steal irving away from the Brooklyn Nets. but their desire to take him away was only up to a certain extent.
But when Irving was sent to the Dallas Mavericks, Pelinka had to came out to explain the things to everyone on why he didn’t push harder for Irving. Things are still the same though. Lakers will only seek Irving the the situation is desperate. Even after that it doesn’t seem that they will go crazy for him.
It might be not bad for lakers to add irving in their ranks. The top prospect had averaged 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists over the course of 20 outings for the Mavericks last season.
This is not all. Lakers will also have to pay attention to their own players as other teams had eyes on them. In the current moments, Russell is sought by two teams and Rui Hachimura is being chased by three squads. Not just these two players, even Austin Reaves also wanted by three teams who wants him to be in their team uniform.
Now we just have to wait and see, if Irving joins the lakers for 2023-24 NBA season.
