Lakers’ NBA Offseason Plans, Brian Windhorst
In the NBA offseason, Los Angeles Lakers was one of the best teams and had a high chance of winning the trophy. But it all depended on whether the key player they acquired in the trade managed to fit in with the others. But that did not happen.
Now for the next season, the Lakers will be trying to solve the issue and will have to decide whether they will be retaining their players for big money or letting them walk in favor of seeking out a big-name third star. For this to happen franchise will have to make up a plan.
Brian Windhorst, an ESPN NBA insider came out to talk about the Lakers’ offseason plans as they currently stand.
Windhorst revealed, “All of the indications in what Rob Pelinka has said and what they’re sort of lining up behind the point of the scene to them doing exactly what Pelinka has gone on the record saying [they would do] and keep this team together.”
“That would mean re-signing Rui Hachimura, re-signing Austin Reaves, and potentially re-signing Lonnie Walker. I do think it’s a question mark about if you’re going to re-sign D’Angelo Russell, what’s the contract going to be?”
The Lakers are among three teams that could be interested in acquiring Fred VanVleet or Dejounte Murray. If they managed to get their hands on either of these players, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Lakers adjust their plans accordingly.
For now, though, Windhorst’s perspective is likely accurate. The Lakers have achieved a lot of success with their current team, so there’s no need to completely change everything unless they have the opportunity to get something truly remarkable in return.
